Is Nick Faust The Next Kwame Evans???
Written by Dwayne Wise

6’6” G/F Nick Faust has been logged in for 20 plus a contest for the 10-1  City Knights, but the standout transfer from John Carroll is also drawing comparisons, to a former Southern High  product, who starred at George Washington University…

kwameIn the early 90's, Kwame Evans was hardly mentioned in basketball conversations as a Sophomore attending Archbishop Curley High School.  Now here it is, we have a shy kid, who is soft spoken, unlike his brother Che' Evans was a starter a at the famed Southern High school.  Kwame used to complain about back pains and aching of the knees, but we had no idea that he would grow to 6'6" in less than 5 months.  When Kwame grew, so did his confidence and the range on his jump shot.  With Kwame’s new found confidence and swag he decided to join his brother and Coach Smitty at Southern High School.  After a stellar junior campaign at Southern High, Kwame would be labeled the best shooting guard in our area and would later  on star at George Washington University...

Five years back, I can clearly remember watching games at Bentlou Rec. when I quickly noticed this slim kid with corn-rolls and high socks resembling my old neighborhood friend Kwame Evans.  I did not know his name , so I went to Coach Conyers to ask ....”Who is the kid with the range and laid back demeanor?”  Coach C said to me, “oh that's just Nick Faust.”  We are now in the year 2010, Faust has grown to be 6'6", just as Evans was by his junior season....he's left the shadow of John Carroll to become a focal point at City College.  As a true advocate but yet still a fan of basketball, I can attest that every situation is different for kids that transfers, but with Carl "C.J." Fair decision to go Prep before heading into Syracuse, this was the perfect scenario for the sweet stroking Nick Faust.

After observing this past weekends Mayors Classic, I witnessed Selby go for 46, hitting the game winner against Ballou (D.C.)  but I also witnessed Faust carry the City Knights back from a 14 point deficit against Longwood (N.Y.).  Once the dust settled and the game was over Nick came in with a cool 27 points and 8 rebounds and most important the W!  Saturday night’s ending result wasn't as successful.  City lost a close contest to Ballou (D.C.), but Faust did not lay down, he posted 32 points, 6 rebounds and coaches/fan are now chanting "Best Shooting Guard" in Baltimore

Fans aren't the only eyes keeping up with Faust these days, several emails from Mid-High major programs are checking in with Charm City Finest in regards to Faust plans during the summer.  After consulting with coaches, I did and conference call interview with Nick Faust dad Mr. Anthony Faust, about who will get his sons services, and he quickly told Charm City Finest that Nike Baltimore Elite won the sweepstakes.  After learning the direction taken by family, I contacted Nike Baltimore Elite President Carlton Carrington and he quickly stated that he was ecstatic to have Faust back in the fold, especially after a stellar 16's campaign with Coach Corbett and the Baltimore Nike Elite program!

Charm City Finest would like to give a shout out to rising 2011 prospect Nick Faust of City College!!!

***Special Note***....Charm City Finest will have T.V. coverage on the home page January 26, 2010 when City College meets Lake Clifton at 5:30!
