Is Aquille Carr The Next "Nut" Rodgers of Charm City????
Written by Dwayne Wise

At 5'6" and 155lbs., Aquille Carr is showing glimpses of another 5'6" former superstar named Shawnte "Nut" Rodgers.  January 19th at Patterson Clipper land, there were traffic delays and mayhem never seen before due to the expected meeting of scoring machine Josh Selby (Lake Clifton) and the electrifying freshman Aquille Carr (Patterson High).

nutThe last time we saw two stars go at it from Lake and Patterson was when Shawnte "Nut" Rodgers went toe to toe against playground/ street ball legend Andre "Silk" Poole, who is now playing professional basketball with AND1  Mix Tape Tour Team.

Here is why we think Aquille may be the next great pint size star.  He is undeniably the biggest ticket in town besides Selby, just as Rodgers was in the mid 90's....He is very athletic, he can score the ball against anyone that is in front of him and he gives any team that he is on a chance to win, without star teammates.  Let's be honest Charm City....do we even know anyone from the rest of the starting 4?  That's the kind of impact Aquille Carr brings to a program.  Aquille was in many rumors of heading to Digital Harbor and also his dream school, the Dunbar Poets, but the truth of the matter is , he may have found a home in zone school Patterson, where his father "Ali" starred years back!  How much of an impact does Aquille have on East Baltimore?  Enough where as though Monument Street is totally clear on game days and no reports of crime is reported during that hour and a half that he is playing.  This is very real Charm City....especially if you grew in the area we label "Down The Hill".

Shawnte "Nut" Rodgers represented Cecil Kirk Rec. under legendary Director Anthony Lewis and late Lake Clifton Coach Charlie Moore.  Aquille has been always labeled Coach Gerald’s (WPC) kid and now is a Clipper at Patterson High.  What's the distinction between them both?  Both kids were victims of odds being placed against them, both are under 5'7" with a heart as big as a lion, and they both came from COACHES THAT LOVE THE CHALLENGE OF DEALING WITH OFF THE COURT ISSUES AND TURNING THINGS FOR THE BETTER!

As we wind down into the 4 quarter of the high school season, word around town is Aquille is a lock for All-Metro as a freshman and if he can carry Patterson deep into the States, he may make a debate for P.O.Y.!  Shawnte “Nut" Rodgers was our last true star under 5'7" to dominate at the Collegiate ranks, breaking many records at George Washington University.  For Aquille, who I already given the nickname "Mighty Mouse", has plenty of room to get better and show Charm City he should be mentioned in that conversation.  CharmCityFinest.com would like to give a shout out to Aquille "Mighty Mouse" Carr and the Patterson Clippers!!!
