Written by Dwayne Wise

We as fans generalize Sundays as a day for football, and most Christians label this special day as "The Lords Day".  When Team Melo, a sponsored Jordan Brand travel team take flight this year, Sunday’s will bring them respect if they can advance, but the hottest topic in Charm City today is will Nike B-More Elite share the spotlight?

Although the AAU season is a month away from starting official tryouts, rumors are now put to rest as to who will guide our youth within both organizations. The most noteworthy of them we ask? Kyle Locke formerly of B-More Nike Elite made a move swifter than the Baltimore Colts the night they packed up the Mayflower and will be joining rival Team Melo, to guide their 16's age group this spring/summer.  Why was this move vital to both organizations and what kids ultimately benefit or lose out is the question of the day?

B-More Nike Elite wears Nike Basketball appearal who has 2 of the brightest NBA stars Kobe Bryant and Lebron James showing off the Brand on the court and endorsement deals.....Team Melo will wear the Jordan Brand, which is blessed by Baltimore native Carmelo Anthony and Dwayne Wade of the Miami Heat.  Who has the edge in the coaching department is a big question in both programs as well.  Coach Baseline, who will anchor Team Melo's 14s, has been credited for working with Juan Dixon amongst others and is the backbone to the whole organization.  Coach Craig, who will guide Elite's 14's has the ingredients and resume for getting the maximum effort out of talent.  As we go to the 15's of both starting with Team Melo, there is Coach Ken Gibson.  Gibson who came from Baltimore Select will not have the services of his once starred backcourt of Lionel Greene and DaQuan Cook who he depended on since 9 under due to playing 16's as most sophomores.  Yet he will have to prove that he can coach at the older age group at a consistent level before earning his stripes.  On the Nike side they will counter with Coach Johnnie Grimes at the 15's, this can be a clear advantage with having a State Title under his belt, and several big game situations leading to positive results.  Grimes has also toured with Nike, learning in the Nike coaching clinics and camps.  Now here we are now at the 16's, and this is where the game really begins...Coach Locke who has instructed at the collegiate level will anchor Team Melo's highest age group with many questions to be answered?  The first would be…Can he lure some of his pieces over to the Team Melo camp that he influenced to join him at Nike Elite?  Even with certain talent, will they still develop or buy into his system to win the major tourneys?  The biggest of them all is when these teams see each other in the States, can he defeat Coach Corbett (Nike Elite).... the face of many years out of Mt. Royal that has National Championships at this age group?

Coach Corbett is known to many as a no-nonsense and strictly about winning teacher, who has developed prized talents Carmelo Anthony, Malcolm Delaney, Donte’ Greene and Maryland’s Sean Mosley amongst many others. Team Melo will take a seat at the 17's and wait for their 16's move up and , but Nike Elite 17's will represent Charm City like no other largely with invite only Nike Tourney's that will be the newly found Nike Youth Basketball League.  At this group ....Nike Director Carlton "Bubb" Carrington, Coach Al from Carver High and former Southern High legend Coach Meredith Smith will showcase the juniors and attempt to place top 10 in the Nike League.  With all the emotions as to who will coach and where are we traveling coming to a cease, it is almost time for put up or shut up.  Charm City will witness one of the most intrigued AAU seasons of all times between these 2 programs, and it should bring B-more fans back to the gym, to enjoy some of our best talent as well as coaches we have to offer.  CharmCityFinest.com will bring fans up to date with the progress or regress of each tournament played,  as well as go on Tour splitting time at the local showcases....Good luck to both Nike B-More Elite and Team Melo and remember to leave it all on the floor!!!
